Cup semi-final today & all the pressure is on us to get a result. If the Dons lose, nobody will think much of it. If we lose then as it’ll be the first trophy we won’t have won in 3 seasons, will make it feel a lot worse than it would if it was what we could call a ‘normal’ season. So from that perspective, I have a great deal of sympathy for Neil Lennon. He’s on a hiding to nothing.
That said, we have the better players and if they turn up and play like they can play, then we should be looking at a rare cup final against the Scumbo’s.
Aberdeen are no mugs and they seem to be better away from home than at Pittodrie. They’ll almost be as familiar with Hampden as we are with the number of semi’s & finals they have played there in recent years. They are good defensively but Shinnie will be a big loss for them today, so Broony & McGregor need to make sure that we control that middle of the park and pull the strings there & make things happen.
As usual, we have goals in this side from Edoaurd, McGregor, Rogic etc. Wee Forrest is also vital for scoring AND creating & he’s another who usually flourishes at Hampden. Hopefully, he’s got another of those performances up his sleeve today. If Burke plays he should be able to use his pace to exploit Aberdeen’s defence down the wing. Either way, regardless of who is the manager, today is about what our players do on the pitch. C’mon the Hoops!
