Lee Congerton’s disastrous reign as Celtic’s chief scout is over and no one is upset about it, that Rodgers has snapped him up at Leicester is their issue now.

Next season the conjecture remains over who will be our manager, a lot of questions will be answered tomorrow when we go to Ibrox to play the Newco in what amounts to a must win game for Lennon.

Failure tomorrow will be remembered even if we win the Treble, the knives have been out for Lenny since he took over with many unhappy with the appointment.

He has done a wonderful job under the circumstances, grinding out results and getting us over the line for the 8, it has however been drab football with some late luck seeing us to the Premiership title.

But that is all part of football, these can easily be forgotten with a win against the Ibrox team on their own patch.

Going forward, if Lennon is to have a role next season at Celtic it doesn’t necessarily have to be as manager, Lennon brought in players like Virgil Van Dyk and Victor Wanyama who will contest the Champions League final.

Of course their were the Brozek’s and Pukki’s but on the sale of Aidan McGeady Lennon built a team that beat Barcelona and made 10’s of millions in transfers for the club.

There can be no doubt that he has an eye for talent and can procure players on a budget that Celtic will actually spend.

With Mourinho, Villa Boas, Benitez and Clarke all still in the running, for the top job along with Neil Lennon, there is every chance that Lenny could fill the scouts job left by Congerton and work with the eventual candidate should he fail to get the nod.

Whatever the decision is going forward, Congerton will not be involved which would say we will hopefully have more than 1 target per position and won’t see players like Kouassi and Compper on the books.

Should Lennon gub the Peepul tomorrow and win at Hampden, there are far worse jobs to take than chief scout at Celtic, it would be great to see Lennon involved with the club going forward.
