Season after season we have the same transfer issues with the defence screaming for a rebuild and midfielders being the only players being linked to the club or coming through the door for that matter.

Under Ronny Deila Celtic had far too many midfielders when he arrived and bought GMS, Armstrong, Allan, Christie and Paddy Roberts (on loan) with many of them not getting a run in the team.

Of course Armstrong went for 7 million and Christie would be worth more than that now, but speculating on new faces isn’t solving the fundamental problem, we need more defenders.

Celtic are looking at a crisis at the back unless there is movement on our current list of contracted players, with KT injured and unlikely to be rushed back our stocks are further depleted.

With Hendry and Compper both miles away from being selected and Ralston not favoured, we essentially have Jozo and Ajer on the books with the untested likes of Calvin Miller, Guman and Perez coming back from loan spells.

The money must be there are the list of Celtic defenders leaving is long, they include: Toljan, Izaguirre, Gamboa, Boyata, Lustig and Benkovic.

With the money saved on their wages surely, we can pick up the starting Right Back and another Centre Half that we have been calling for since Brendan arrived 3 years ago.

With Lenny now at the helm and Congerton away, hopefully, we will find the players to these key positions sooner rather than later.
